Nis preparing working zone for Leoni – Construction of water supply and sewerage system begins

The construction of the water supply and sewerage system in the working zone Donje Medjurovo near Nis, where a factory of the German company Leoni is being built, will start soon, and the value of the works will amount to up to RSD 64 million, it was said at the session of the City Council of Nis.

– The Ministry of Economy will finance the construction of the water supply and sewerage network with close to RSD 31 million, and the City of Nis will contribute nearly RSD 34 million – Ivan Petkovic of the Local Economic Development Office said today.

According to him, the water supply and sewerage network will be built on the entire area of the working zone Donje Medjurovo, that is, on 53.3 hectares, and not just on the area of eight hectares on which Leoni is raising its facility.

City councilor Mihajlo Zdravkovic added that Leoni was building a facility with 6,000 square meters in the industrial zone at the entrance to the city and that around 600 people would be employed there.

– The plan is to have a whole factory of 28,000 square meters built by the beginning of the next year and for 2,200 people to be employed there by October 2019 – Zdravkovic said.

Leoni's new factory will produce cable sets and electric devices for cars, and, according to initial announcements, Leoni will initiate the production in the facility in Nis during the upcoming summer.
