The ClassDojo app enables teachers and pupils to share what's going on in the classes and has proven to be very popular, seeing how it's already being used in 130 countries globally. Ever since its launch in 2011, as many as 90% of primary and secondary schools in the US have started using the said social network.
Pupils take photos while in class, commenting on what they're doing or sharing them through ClassDojo, similar to the famous Snapchat.
The app even features a system enabling teachers to give points (dojos) to pupils or deduct them, depending on the child's behavior.
At the same time, parents using the app are notified of the performance of their children in school, and they can also send direct messages to teachers.
The app was developed by Liam Don, a game developer, and Sam Chaudhary, a teacher. They moved from the UK to America, where they talked to hundreds of teachers, who complained that they had had problems with classroom engagement.
Liam and Sam then decided to turn good behavior into a game.
Although the app has had numerous positive reviews at AppStore and Google Play, it has provoked anger in certain parents. They claim that ClassDojo has turned good behavior into a competition and that teachers are using the app as an alternative to discipline.
