The arrival of the freight train from the Greek Port of Piraues to the intermodal railway terminal of the company Nelt in Dobanovci officially marked the beginning of cooperation between the Chinese maritime logistics company COSCO (China Ocean Shipping Group) and Nelt, the company says in its press release.
COSCO, one of the global leaders in the field of logistics, has recognized Nelt’s intermodal terminal in Belgrade as the logistics hub of the Balkans thanks to its excellent location and technical and technological advantages.
– We have recognized the need of the markets of Serbia and the immediate surroundings in the region for additional solutions in transporting goods from the Far East. The clients need a regular and reliable service. We expect more than 7,000 containers to be transported annually – emphasized Erich Cossutta on behalf of Dragon Maritime, the agent of COSCO for Serbia and the Western Balkans.
Nelt’s terminal is linked by railway to all European ports and land terminals. Highways E-75 and E-70 intersect six kilometers away from the terminal, whereas the Nikola Tesla Airport is ten kilometers away. A customs outpost with a warehouse also operates within the Nelt logistics center, enabling full support and flexibility to various processes and flows of goods. The new set of logistics services initiated by the activation of the intermodal terminal enables clients to reduce the logistics costs and provides them with a quicker, safer and better transportation service.
– Considering the fact that Piraeus is the first hub on the goods transport route from the Far East towards Europe, we expect this cooperation to lead to a considerable reduction in transit time. We hope that this service will provide an important alternative in logistics flows to our market – said Ivan Milicevic, Operations and Development Manager of Nelt LSP.
