Air Serbia reported on May 15 that it would install new, smaller seats in its narrow-body Airbus planes, in order to increase the number of passengers.

As stated in the report, following the renovation of the cabin, the capacity of A319 will increase from 128 to 144, and in A320 from 155 to 174, an increase of over 12% in the entire narrow-body fleet.

New Recaro BL3520 seats, which take up less space, will be installed in ten A319 and A320 planes, enabling Air Serbia to install additional rows and, as they claim, enhance the comfort in both the business and the economy class.

Air Serbia will install a total of 1,500 such seats in the next few weeks.

The director general of the company, Dane Kondic, said that the increase of the number of seats was equivalent to the increase of the fleet by another plane and that the change would lead to the reduction of fuel consumption as well, thanks to the unloading of planes.

Kondic also said that Air Serbia would be more competitive, that it would reduce costs, initiate the growth of revenues and that it would be able to better meet the demand during flights.
