– This is the first such project in Europe and Central Asia. Serbia is very exposed to natural disasters, above all floods, which has a negative impact on the country’s economic growth – Verheijen said in his interview for Blic.
The World Bank, as he says, will provide a loan of USD 70 million, which the Government will be able to withdraw in case it declares an emergency.
– The money is meant for prevention and everything necessary in case of an emergency, the purchase of the equipment, protection and so on. The Board of Directors of the World Bank should approve this project on May 3, and it should then be ratified by the National Assembly of Serbia – Verheijen said.
