The restoration works will cost around EUR 400,000. The Government of Serbia has set aside RSD 22 million and the Embassy of France around EUR 200,000.
Moro said that the Government of Serbia had asked France to give its contribution to the restoration of the monument which “has symbolic value as it represents the friendship of the two peoples”. The monument has been damaged by the weather.
– We have placed a public invitation for the collection of financial funds, which is symbolic in itself, as contributions have been made by the Government of France, the Union of War Veterans, French companies and citizens connected to Serbia by friendship – Moro pointed out.
She added that the goal was for the restoration works to be completed by November 11, 2017, and that the signing of the agreement meant “turning a new page and defining more precisely the manner in which the works are to be conducted”.
Minister Vulin announced the adoption of a new law on war memorials.
