Serbia and Iraq sign Agreement on Air Transport

The Agreement on Air Transport between Serbia and Iraq, which will enable the re-establishment of regular air traffic between the two countries, was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Zorana Mihajlovic and Minister of Transport of Iraq Kazem Finjan.

The new agreement regulates a range of important issues related to international air transport, given that the previous one was signed back in 1975, the ministry`s website reports.

Before the signing, Mihajlovic talked to the Iraqi delegation about the possibilities of enhancing the economic cooperation between the two countries.

– There are considerable potentials for the cooperation between Serbia and Iraq to expand and we are there to make steps to that end together – she said and accept the Iraqi minister`s invitation to visit the country together with Serbian construction companies and discuss the cooperation and new projects.

Minister Kazem Finjan said that the meeting would contribute to opening new venues of cooperation and pointed out that Iraq was working on reconstructing the destroyed infrastructure and hospitals and that there was a possibility of Serbian companies applying for those projects.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Ambassador of Iraq to Belgrade Kasir Askem Hasan and representatives of the Civil Aviation Directorate of Serbia and the Iraq Civil Aviation Authority.
