– The Belgrade-based Rubikon Shipping Company has purchased the shipyard at the price of RSD 46 million, accepted by the board of creditors. The signing of the agreement is to follow and needs to take place within three days from the submission of the decision of the board of creditors to the purchaser, after which the handover is to be carried out – says the bankruptcy supervisor of Brodogradiliste Begej, Jelica Vukolic.
The items on sale included real estate in Zrenjanin, totaling 83,000 square meters in area, and real estate at Stajicevo, with over a million square meters of area, as well as a part of the movable property.
Rubikon Shipping Company will not become the owner of the land where the facilities are located, and will only be allowed to use it. The bankruptcy debtor's stock was sold out in the preceding period, and part of the equipment is under court dispute and cannot be used. For this reason, the new owner, as announced earlier, will first invest in order to enable full utilization of the capacities in line with their purpose. The plan is to first employ 75 people and then another 75 in the next phase in a year, the new owners announced in one of the previous press releases.
They emphasize that the their primary motive for purchasing the shipyard is related to their core activity.
– This is a regional leader in river transport, which specializes in safe and reliable transport of chemicals and petroleum products. Years of experience and operating results have earned Rubikon Shipping Company the status of the preferred transporter for big oil companies, refineries and traders (OMV, MOL, NIS and others). The plan is to turn the Begej shipyard into a location where the process of reconstruction and modernization of Rubikon Shipping Company's fleet is to be carried out. The company was founded in Belgrade in 2007 and has a fleet of 14 vessels totaling 25,990 tons in capacity. It operates in numerous European states (Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium and others). It adheres to all the standards and laws of the European Union. In 2015, the company transported 679,000 tons of petroleum products – says the company's press release.
