New investments in the Subotica-based factory Elektroremont have been announced. The company's Italian owner plans to invest EUR 2 million in Subotica and open a repair center for electric engines for trains and subway trains for the whole Europe, the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) reported.

The president of the CCIS talked to the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Subotica with representatives of 50 companies about overcoming obstacles related to gray economy, VAT refunds, debt repayment deadlines, lack of qualified workforce and problems faced by transportation companies. The meeting in Subotica was attended by Ivan Djokovic, vice president of the Government of Vojvodina and the secretary for economy and tourism.

– The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia will support companies from Subotica, such as Elektroremont, in realizing their development and investment plans and overcoming the challenges they are facing in their business activities – said the president of CCIS, Marko Cadez.

Let us remind that Elektroremont is one of the biggest electric machine and equipment repair companies in the territory of former Yugoslavia. The company was privatized successfully in 2005 and has operated within Italy's Applicazioni Elettriche Generali since.
