Soon new tender for Belgrade Beer Industry BIP – sale in parts
New tender for sale of Belgrade-based Beer Industry (BIP) is being prepared. The tender announced in April failed. It has been concluded that the tender was unsuccessful because entire BIP was offered for sale. BIP consists of beer factory, malt factory and juice factory, as well as series of facilities that do not have anything in common with its primary activity. Such BIP is much too big bite even for the big buyers. Of about 1,800 employees, at least 800 are surplus.
BIP is working together with the consulting company BC Excel on design of such social program that should provide decent severance pays for all those who leave the factory. It is expected that the administration will be the first to use that opportunity, because it is made of too many people. As far as experts in field of production are concerned, they will be rewarded for the good work. It is estimated that at least 300 workers will leave the factory and take severance pays.
The money for severance pays will be obtained from the sale of property of BIP that is not related to the primary production, such as: holiday hostels on Zlatibor and in Budva, business center “Skadarlija“ (7,000 square meters), as well as water factory in “Skadarlija“ and beer bottling lines in Sremska Mitrovica and Leskovac. Most of the potential buyers are interested in brewer on Mostar. Its sale, as it can be concluded on the basis of reaction of the Privatization Agency, will be on tender. The rest of the parts of BIP may be sold according to some of the models regulated by the Law.
