More than EUR 4.5 million will be invested in four educational and six healthcare facilities in Montenegro in 2017 through two programs entailing the implementation of energy efficiency measures.

Phases I and II of the Energy Efficiency Program in Public Buildings (EEPPB) in 2017 entail the implementation of energy efficiency measures in Slobodan Skerovic Gymnasium, 1. jun Resource Center and the Resource Center for Children and Youth Podgorica, as well as Milan Vukotic Primary School in Golubovci. The works on these four facilities have been estimated at around EUR 2.7 million.

Over EUR 1.8 million will be set aside in 2017 for the Montenegro Energy Efficiency Program (MEEP), of which EUR 1.1 million for works on replacing the facade metalwork on the main building of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, which are to be completed in March.

In 2017, works will continue in Niksic, Kolasin, Andrijevica and Petnjica health centers, where the thermal-technical installations and electrical installations were adapted last year. It has been announced that construction and finishing works worth nearly EUR 725,000 will be carried out in 2017 in those institutions, as well as in the health station Murino.

The implementation of energy efficiency measures through these two programs entails, among other things, thermal insulation on the facades, thermal and hydro roof insulation, replacement of facade metalwork, repair/construction of heating systems, replacement of boiler-room equipment, installation of thermostatic and balancing valves and replacement of light fittings.

The implementation of the said measures will wholly enhance the adapted facilities in terms of energy efficiency and comfort, considerably improving the staying conditions in these institutions.

EEPPB is financed by a loan in the amount of EUR 31.5 million and a donation of around EUR 4.7 million, provided by KfW, whereas MEEP is financed by a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of EUR 11.5 million.
