Owner of Point Group, Zoran Drakulic, has stated that he is seriously considering applying for the contest for professional management for RTB Bor, opened in late 2016.

– I could organize people who are good at the job. I'm really thinking about applying for the tender, though I know I wouldn't be selected – Drakulic said in his interview for the Biznis magazine.

Drakulic explained his pessimism with his conviction that the state favors foreign investors over local ones, causing him to believe that foreigners will be given an advantage in the tender.

--RTB Bor has a future. There's Zelezara Smederevo, where the state also initially implemented a similar management model and selected a professional management, but RTB Bor is another story altogether – said Drakulic, also the president of the Privrednik business club.

He estimated that Zelezara couldn't be profitable and that the Chinese Hesteel would not be able to make profit either.

– There are more than sufficient amounts of steel in the market. It's different with copper. The problem is that the new smelter is a very bad investment, as we do not have a concentrate good enough for it, but have to import it so that it could be mixed with the local concentrate instead. We could have solved the problem of the smelter and the pollution with considerably smaller amounts of money – Drakulic said.

He added that the most rational solution needed to be found and that it should be seen whether the new smelter could be used as it was.

– There's no turning back now. It could all have cost much less, with more money being invested in mines. Anyway, let's see what the consulting company McKinsey, which had performed the analysis, wrote in its report. Is that some kind of a secret? No one has seen the study so far. We will see it if we enter the company, but we don't know the details for now – he said.

Drakulic also reminded that his company had started producing biomass and bioenergy.

– There are big plans to increase the production. Furthermore, we are building a small cogeneration facility – he said.
