Serbia and Iran have commenced talks on the mutual abolition of visas and an agreement is expected to be signed soon, reported the Serbian-Iranian Friendship Association.

As stated, Serbia is also negotiating with Iran on establishing a direct Belgrade-Tehran flight.

Ambassador of Iran Hossein Molla Abdollahi emphasized in his talks with representatives of the Serbian-Iranian Friendship Association that the arrival of a large group of Iranian tourists to Serbia was expected in 2017.

– This year marks 80 years of diplomatic relations of Serbia and Iran, which will be marked by a range of events and activities – Abdollahi announced.

The ambassador said that the abolition of sanctions on Iran had led to “a new atmosphere in the life and work of the people of Iran, but its precisely those countries that were the most adamant in maintaining sanctions and criticizing that were the first to rush to Iran and start fighting for its big market”.

He confirmed that Serbia would be visited by the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif in March, and that a range of bilateral visits at the top level would follow in 2017.
