Regulation of Crnica river bed to begin in spring of 2017 – Tender for contractor currently in progress

The project called Emergency Works for Protection of the City from the Waters of the Crnica River will, all things considered, start being realized in spring, and the European Union has put the job in charge of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).

According to the envisioned procedure, the tended for the contractor is open throughout January, and the signing of an agreement should follow in February.

– The project has been prepared by JVP Srbijavode, as the Crnica is a first-order river. The Government has applied for the funds through the competent ministries, and the project encompasses Paracin, Svilajnac and Valjevo, as well two Belgrade municipalities, Lazarevac and Obrenovac. Still, the donation for our city alone amounts to EUR 4 million, more than all the others. The works are planned to last until the end of 2018 – explains Milos Tomic of the Directorate for Construction of Paracin.

The flood control system will be built on the span from the confluence of the Crnica and the Velika Morava to Glavica, and will consist of a combination of embankments and defense walls through the city. The bed’s flow rate will be increased to a great extent, and easily assembled mobile defense systems will be placed on certain locations.

Paracin has already built an early warning system, and the recently raised gauging station at the Crnica will be moved upstream following the construction of the new system. This will enable continual monitoring of the entire flow.
