The regulations of Germany's national minimum wage law (MiLoG) prescribe that local and foreign employers must provide, at the request of the relevant authorities, the proof that they're paying their employees minimum gross hourly wages defined by law. The law also pertains to cross-border road transport of passengers and goods (aside from transit transport).
Changes regarding the registration of drivers being sent to Germany have also been implemented. Beginning with January 1, 2017, drivers must check in through the web portal at www.meldeportal-mindestlohn.de. The portal is under construction at the moment and will be activated on the said date.
The goal is to simplify the procedure of registering workers being sent to work in Germany. The old procedure will not be canceled immediately following the implementation of the new one and registration by fax will be available in the transitory period, until June 30, 2017.
Aside from the new charges for companies sending vehicles to Germany, the implementation of a law on France, also impacting Serbian transporters, started this year, writes plutonlogistics.com.
