Production of cigarettes in the recently built tobacco factory "Monus" in Inđija has already started. The trial production is almost finished. Besides the obtained licenses for putting of excise stamps on the basis of the decision of the Government of Serbia on Issuing of License, this factory also have trademark registered in the Tobacco Agency, whereas, these days, as director of "Monus" Dejan Stanković says, it expects to receive another decision for the excise warehouse. That will be followed by the commencement of the official production. Prior to the end of summer, "Monus" will launch three new cigarette brands.

Up to 70% of the cigarettes will be sold on the domestic market, whereas the remainder will be exported. Production in the first phase will amount to 2.5 tons of cigarettes on annual basis. On the basis of excises and VAT, the budget of Serbia will annually earn about €17m from the cigarettes sold on the domestic market. The factory will employ about 200 workers until the end of summer and further production growth will result in employment of more people.

At the same time, tobacco manufacturers from Serbia will be indirectly included in the production.
