Total of 6.7m EUR for new projects of municipalities in southwest Serbia in 2008
The first phase of development projects in the municipalities in southwest Serbia, which are financed, in association with the Government of Serbia, with 3.5m EUR by European Union and Government of Switzerland, is nearly finished, and total of 6.7m EUR will be invested in new programs in 2008.
People from the Office of the Program for development of municipalities of southwest Serbia (PRO Program) in Novi Pazar said that 3.5m EUR would be invested in construction of infrastructural public utility facilities of regional importance in southwest Serbia, whereas the remaining funds would be spent on the projects that would be defined in association with local self-governments.
Realization of the second phase of PRO Program, which includes Novi Pazar, Sjenica, Tutin, Nova Varoš, Prijepolje, Priboj, Ivanjica and Raška, will start in mid-2008. The municipalities will set aside 265,000 EUR for improvement of living conditions of citizens.
Last year, the international financial aid was mainly directed to reconstruction of schools, kindergartens, cultural institutions and construction of streets and other infrastructural facilities.
