The Kikinda-based company Grindex opened two new facilities on November 30, a facility for heavy machine processing and a nodular casting facility, where 50 workers have been employed. These facilities, as well as a part of the factory complex, with a total area of around 10 hectares, were bought by Grindex from Livnica Kikinda Automobilska Industrija this May. The value of the investment amounts to around EUR 2 million.

– The production hall for heavy machine processing has 18,500 square meters, and the nodular casting facility, along with side facilities, has around 13,000 square meters. The machine processing hall contains around 140 tool machines: grinders, drills, milling machines, furnace for casts of up to six meters of length. The facility used to produce around 500 grinders a year. We have also bought the complete construction-technological documentation for grinders, which will make the production process shorter. The nodular casting facility can produce grey iron, nodular and steel casts – said Jovan Bulatovic, founder and owner of Grindex at the opening.

– It has four demag iron smelting furnaces with the capacity of 12.5 tons each, and a smaller furnace with the capacity of 4.5 tons. The total smelting capacity of the liquid cast is 20,000 tons a year. The starting capacity of hand modeled casts is 5,000 tons a year. The foundry is technologically equipped, has a sand preparation facility, a coreshop, a molding system, a cleaning system, and we also have a workshop for machine processing of wood, which produces molds and tools for our needs, but also for other factories as well – Bulatovic added.

Grindex is one of the most successful private companies in Kikinda, founded by Bulatovic 13 years ago using his years of experience acquired in Livnica Kikinda. Today, his company employs 140 people in three facilities. Bulatovic has employed experienced former workers from Livnica Kikinda in the new facilities.

– We opened the first facility 13 years ago in a rented car shop, and we bought the tools and the equipment at flea markets. We provided light and heavy machine processing services per order. We didn’t have technical documentation, but prepared one for each machine individually, by measuring the parts of old machines – Bulatovic says.

Grindex’s main products are grinding machines run manually or through a computer, and they are present in some of the best known factories in the world. The entire production is exported, mostly to the Russian Federation and Belarus.
