City Manager Goran Vesic stated on Sunday, November 27, that the city Secretariat for Urban Planning had authorized the registration of works on the Slavija Fountain filed by the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency, Beoinfo reports.
– The authorization by the Secretariat means that the final formal consent for the works on building the fountain has been acquired. The contractor has been notified and has eight days to commence the works, in line with the agreement. The company PMC Inzenjering, which is carrying out the Slavija project, will initiate the works on Sunday, December 3 by raising a protective fence and installing the traffic lights, whereas the earth works are to begin on December 6. This means that, by May, we will have a new, grand fountain that the city will be proud of. The promise made to the citizens that the works on the fountain will begin by the end of the year will be fulfilled – the city manager pointed out.
He added that, according to the agreement, the contractor will be performing the works throughout the winter beneath a protective canopy, which is a global practice that will be implemented in Belgrade for the first time. This means that the weather conditions will not impact the work schedule.
The Slavija Fountain is the 65th construction site opened by the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency.
Vesic announced that, during December, the City of Belgrade would place a tender for reconstructing the traffic routes at Slavija, in Oslobodjenja Blvd, from Slavija to Autokomanda, as well as in Ruzveltova Street up to Bogoslovija.
Together with bonuses, this tender will be worth around EUR 22 million, and the completion deadline period will be 180 days, Vesic pointed out and added that Oslobodjenja Blvd and Ruzveltova Street, as well as Slavija itself with its fountain, would be reconstructed by the autumn.
