Toblerone changing shape and size
Comments
The famous Toblerone chocolate will change its shape and size, but keep its price.
Mondelez has decided to increase the space between the famous triangular elements, causing outrage among the UK consumers. They don't like the new shape at all and they want their triangular chocolate back, and the move has been described as wrong, ridiculous, stupid and unnecessary.
The company says that they've made this move due to an increase in the price of raw materials, forcing them to either reduce the size of 400 and 170 gram chocolates or increase their price.
– We have decided to reduce the weight in order to keep Toblerone affordable – Mondelez says.
– Fair enough reducing the weight of the bar, but why the big gap in between segments? Looks stupid, could have just made the bar shorter and kept the original design – wrote Facebook user Lee Yarker, whereas Philip Joseph said that it was the wrong decision and a very underhanded thing to do.
– It's just plain dumb changing the trademark shape of your flagship product. If you were really that concerned about Toblerone customers, you would have consulted them – wrote Richard Cristiano Tamerighi.
Michal Tat wrote that it had to be one of the dumbest corporate decisions of all time, whereas Alistair Calder called the decision utterly ridiculous.
– I'll never buy one of these.
The company has negated allegations that the decision is Brexit-related, but they admit that it hasn't helped. Customers have responded with: “Brexit killed Toblerone”.
