Terminal 2 of Airport Beograd to be put into operation on September 15
The Management of the Airport Beograd plans to put Terminal 2 for international air traffic into operation on September 15. As it is estimated, the complete reconstruction will be finished in December and Terminal 2 will be equipped with the up-to-date airport equipment that will enable quick flow of the passengers.
Director General of Airport Beograd, Nebojša Nedeljković, said that 24,000 square meters of the terminal would be reconstructed and that the value of the project amounted to €18m, €8m of which had been obtained from the credit of European Investment Bank, whereas €10m had been set aside from the Airport’s budget.
It is expected that, after Terminal 2 is put into operation, between four and five million passengers will be passing through the aiport building on annual basis. The tender for selection of the strategic partner that will deal with the procurements at the airport will be ended in August. The partner will be obliged to pay annual rent of at least 3.5 million USD to the Airport. The number of restaurants and stores the airport building requires will be discussed with the partner. Foreign companies are already visiting the airport. About 10,000 square meters will be offered for rent.
Laying of floors and installation of windows for passenger checking is underway at Terminal 2. Besides, transportation systems for dispatching of luggages to the sorting room and installation of up-to-date equipment for x-ray control of the suitcases are underway.
