The fate of Zrenjanin's Beohemija-Inhem, the largest local producer of detergents and house cleaning products, is in the hands of AIK Banka, Novosti learns. The factory has been in bankruptcy since last summer, and, as the reorganization plan had not been adopted, the Commercial Court of Zrenjanin was forced to declare the company bankrupt.

The creditors, the majority of which are banks, should now be repaid through the sale of Beohemija-Inhem property, but many of them are sure to end up short. Namely, the property of the ruined chemical company is worth a total of RSD 2.6 billion, whereas their debts exceed RSD 25 billion.

The receivables are currently being inspected and an additional hearing has been scheduled for November 30 at the Commercial Court. As the trustee in bankruptcy, Vasilije Jovanovic, points out, the hearing will be held primarily due to the request by AIK Banka for the examination of a previously missed aspect.

AIK Banka claims that its secured right over the land where Beohemija-Inhem buildings and facilities are located has been neither recognized nor disputed. The bank is the preferential creditor due to the mortgage taken out and has precedence in the settlement process. All production facilities of the Zrenjanin factory belong to it, and the trustee in bankruptcy has proposed for the secured right to be extended to the land at the additional hearing.

This bank stands to receive over RSD 14.5 billion. It is clear that it is up to them to decide how the property is to be monetized, which will practically determine the fate of Beohemija-Inhem and its famous brands like Duel, Spin and others. Jovanovic is not free to say anything about deadlines, but he points out that the declaration of bankruptcy means a quick and efficient monetization of the bankruptcy owner's property.

By the way, the facilities of Zrenjanin's chemical giant are operating at full capacity. Around 250 regularly paid workers have been employed and the factory is steadily supplying the local market with detergents and house cleaning products.
