This was reported at the session of the Government of Serbia's coordination authority for suppressing gray economy.
As stated in the report pertaining to the period January-October 2016, the Tax Administration closed 2,123 facilities due to irregularities found in 6,106 control procedures, and 1,340 criminal charges were filed due to tax evasion.
It is stated that a draft law on fees for the use of public goods is being prepared.
The report says that, since the Law on Inspection Supervision started being implemented in mid-2015, inspections have discovered 6,098 unregistered business entities.
Labor inspectors alone discovered 592 unregistered business entities. Following the control procedure, 551 companies registered at the Business Registers Agency.
Furthermore, 595 were discovered in which unregistered activities had been performed and 1,826 charges were filed and 344 misdemeanor warrants issued.
Most unregistered stores and enterprises come from the sectors of trade, hospitality, motor vehicle repair, wood processing, tradesman services and construction. As well, unregistered kindergartens, gamerooms, betting houses and gerontology centers were discovered.
