The Ministry of Mining and Energy today issued a call for bids for allocation of grants from the budget for improving energy efficiency and the Global Environment Fund (GEF) for the purpose of financing projects in the area of efficient energy consumption in 2016 in local self-government units.

The bid submission deadline is November 24. The funds paid from the budget of Serbia amount to RSD 25 million, and those from the GEF USD 500,000.

The largest amount paid per project from the budget amounts to up to 22% of the total cost of the project or up to RSD 2.5 million, whereas the maximum amount per project paid from the GEF is 50% of the cost of the project, free of VAT, or up to USD 50,000.

The project aims to improve energy and expenditure efficiency in facilities of public importance which are in charge of local self-government units.

The funds are meant for installing biomass boilers, improving thermodynamic systems in buildings by replacing the system or a part of it with a more efficient system or by installing heat pumps, as well as for installing solar collectors for water heating.

The call states that some of the criteria for the selection of the project include reduction of carbon-dioxide emission, as well as the bidder's participation in financing the project.
