As said by Iva Jevtic, City Secretary, at the press conference in Belgrade, Dragan Stanic, writer and president of Matica Srpska, is to open the fair. According to the president of the Fair’s Board, Zoran Avramovic, the book fair is a proof of the persevering value of books.
At the 61th International Belgrade Book Fair, around 40 of 450 exhibitors come from abroad – from Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, Israel, Hungary, Japan, China, Russia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, while Iran is this year’s guest of honor.
The first advisor of the ambassador of Iran to Belgrade, Naser Ehsani Farid, said that the book was the best means of cultural exchange between two societies, making such an event highly important.
Thematic forums dedicated to Cervantes’ and Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary, the 100th anniversary of Petar Kocic, exhibitions, the Festival of Youth Creativity, school and family days will be held at the fair, and traditional prizes will also be awarded.
The fair will be open from 10 am till 9 pm Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and until 8 pm on working days. Individual tickets cost RSD 250, group visit tickets cost RSD 150, whereas the ticket granting access throughout the event costs RSD 900.
