Slavija fountain to be built by Belgrade's PMC Engineering – Works can start as soon as mid-November

City Manager Goran Vesic has stated that the Supervisory Board of the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency reached the decision on awarding the contract on the construction of a fountain on Slavija Square to Belgrade's PMC Engineering at the session held on Tuesday, October 11, Beoinfo reports.

He added that the value of the contract was RSD 214 million.

According to him, the contractor can start performing the works in about a month, which is how much the procedure will last which entails the expiration of the deadline period for complaints, the signing of the contract and acquiring necessary guarantees and insurance policies.

– The contractor will have 155 days to complete the construction of the fountain, which will be located in the center of the Slavija Square. It will have all the necessary accompanying equipment, and the facility will also contain an underground machine room. The fountain's central pool will be made of concrete and covered with granite plates, and the pool will be surrounded by a grass area. The contractor is obliged to secure the functioning of the fountain and its maintenance in a year's period following the completion of the works. The fountain will have two modes of operation, the regular and the reduced mode, and the multimedia, that is, the musical mode will be installed separately. The software will enable the water images, lights, sounds, the wind speed and water level measuring device to work automatically – Vesic explained.

Vesic said that the monument to Dimitrije Tucovic would be moved prior to the beginning of the construction. The monument will be restored in order to be placed at the center of the future park between Slavija and Kralja Milutina Street, and the remains will be buried in the Alley of Distinguished Citizens, along with all the state and military honors, as befits this great man.
