The World Bank's Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller has stated that the bank will continue to support the strengthening of the business climate in Serbia, announced the Ministry of Finance of Serbia on Friday, October 7.

– We want to be at the disposal of the Government of Serbia in order to maximize our support to the realization of initiated projects and those still being planned – Muller stated.

Muller supported the intention to provide support to education and healthcare and added that the help of the World Bank would be felt by Serbia in reforming the public administration as well, i.e. optimizing the number of employees in the public sector, restructuring large state-owned enterprises like EPS, Srbijagas, and Serbian Railways, and completing the process of privatization of the largest state-owned companies, but also in supporting the modernization of the agricultural sector.

– We believe that investing in agriculture is an important component in reforms, and Serbia has great potential in that area – Muller said.

As stated in the report, Muller added that the World Bank planned to implement a number of projects in order to support this sector, but also that it expected from Serbia to continue to send a positive message to the region and Europe through making great results.

Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic pointed out that Serbia wished to continue achieving the goals it had set and that it was important to constantly learn how to efficiently optimize its finances, produce and export more and continue to draw foreign investments.
