280 new bankruptcy proceedings initiated in nine months of 2016

In the first nine months of 2016, 280 bankruptcy proceedings were initiated in Serbia, and the number of active proceeding is currently 2,083. Based on the Bankruptcy Supervision Agency data, 3,473 bankruptcy proceedings were completed in that period.

The average time needed to complete 6,132 proceedings was two years, eight months and 19 days. In the first nine months, 576 bankruptcy proceedings were terminated.

The Bankruptcy Supervision Agency has also published an overview of bankruptcy proceedings initiated at commercial courts in Serbia, which shows that, from 1995 till 1999, a total of 45 proceedings were initiated in 16 judicial institutions, with no proceeding opened in Zajecar, Zrenjanin, Nis, Novi Sad, Pancevo, Pozarevac, Sombor and Subotica.

The Commercial Court of Zrenjanin had 111 private capital bankruptcy proceeding in the period from 1995 through September 2016, of which 51 were completed, and 21 terminated. In the same period, there were 44 partnership capital bankruptcy proceedings, of which 30 were completed and one terminated.


The Commercial Court of Novi Sad initiates 407 private capital bankruptcy proceedings in the period, of which 241 were completed and 38 terminated, whereas of the 91 partnership capital bankruptcy proceedings initiated in the same period, 49 were completed and six terminated.
