Cold pressed grape seed oil products of the company Grapoila have reached customers quickly. Under the POLAK Natural brand, they can be bought at the company's headquarters in Novi Sad and in Hungary so far, and these unique products will soon be found on shelves throughout Europe, as well as in the United Arab Emirates.
Aside from grape seed oil, Grapoila produces cosmetics products: soaps, peeling soaps, body oils, lip balsam, bubble bath products. All cosmetics products are hand-made from raw materials originating in Serbia, and another 15 face, body and hair products are currently being developed.
The Novi Sad-based Grapoila SRB is owned by Ella Polak from Serbia and Marianne Pincesz from Hungary, who have been brought together through their mutual interest in founding a company in Serbia in order to form an array of products attractive to the market.
As Ella Polak says for eKapija, they saw that, on the one hand, such products didn't exist, and that, on the other hand, there was demand for them.
– All these products are based on cold pressed grape seed oil, which makes them unique, not just in Serbia, but in the world as well.
As our interviewee explains, grape seed oil is dark green in color and has a characteristic aroma similar to that of processed grapes, which is preserved at temperatures up to 200˚C and gives food an interesting flavor. It's very good with fish and as a salad dressing. It has a smoke point of 250˚C, which makes it good for frying food at high temperatures and is very healthy in addition to being delicious.
The products don't contain additional aromas, colors or unnatural ingredients and, as our interviewee points out, they are of very high quality, as proven by laboratory tests performed in Serbia.
In addition to expanding their offer, they are planning to expand their production capacities but also to increase the presence of their products in Serbia and abroad. Soon the products will become available online and in stores which promote natural products and natural cosmetics, and they will also be available to customers in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and the UAE.
– The demand has been great so far due to the products' being inventive and the their high quality when it comes to health and body care – Polak says and adds that they face challenges every day but that “each new challenge is a new thrill”.
Commenting on the decision to enter the world of entrepreneurship, our interviewee, who is one of 26 candidates for the Success Flower award given by the Association of Business Women in Serbia, says that such a decision depends on one's personal attitude, ambition and perspective.
– If you have the right idea and see yourself as someone who can make that idea a reality through enthusiasm, creativity and persistence, I believe that it would be uncharacteristic to give up the potential provided by entrepreneurship.
– It's important to be patient, to persevere and put a lot of time and effort into it – Polak emphasizes.
Grape seed oil as a source of health
In low-fat diets using grape seed oil, risk of heart disease is reduced by 41-55%. It's excellent for the cardiovascular system and the heart, as it is the only known type of food that can increase the level of HDL (“good cholesterol”) while simultaneously reducing the level of LDL (“bad cholesterol”). It's even better as an antioxidant, since it contains flavonoids and polyphenols.
Oligomeric procyanidin, a flavonoid contained in grape seeds, is an antioxidant nearly 50 times stronger than vitamin E. Linoleic acid, which grape seeds contain, is very beneficial to those suffering from high blood sugar. It strengthens capillaries and regenerates blood vessels, prevents complications and improves circulation. Grape seed oil also acts anti-inflammatory, relieves pain from swollen wrists caused by rheumatoid arthritis and greatly increases their flexibility. The grape seed extract can prevent the development of cancer cells thanks to numerous antioxidants. It helps in diseases such as bronchial asthma, dermatitis and allergies, as it suppresses sudden production of histamine. It's rich in Omega 6, Omega 3 and Omega 9 fatty acids, which slow down aging and prevent heart diseases.
