Decision on maximum number of public sector employees by late 2016

Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic stated today that decisions on the maximum number of employees in the public sector would be reached before the end of the year.

He said at the closing of the meeting regarding the proposal for the new structure of the program budget of local self-governments that this was the obligation Serbia had towards both itself and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to Vujovic, the decisions on the maximum number of workers in the public administration will serve as a basis for defining the 2017 budget and for calculating the amount to be set aside for public sector salaries.

He also announced that the law on salaries on the local level would be passed before the end of the year and that working groups for the implementation of those regulations had already been formed.
