The company Ferrari Investment East Europe from Backa Palanka has bought the Pirot-based AHA Mura Prvi Maj in bankruptcy at the starting price of RSD 283.95 million, as reported by the trustee in bankruptcy, Miroljub Dimitrijevic, on September 20.

The English-Slovenian company AHA Group bought three production halls of Prvi Maj for EUR 2.1 million in September 2012, and it also received subsidies in the amount of EUR 6.6 million from the state budget, i.e. EUR 5,000 for each new job position.

The Pirot factory used to employ 1,300 workers. It stopped operating in September 2014, following the bankruptcy procedure in Slovenia’s AHA Mura. The workers weren’t paid their salaries for almost a year and protested several times, demanding to return to the factory.

The bankruptcy was declared on June 25, 2015.
