Polish fund Enterprise Investors buying Intersport for EUR 30 million
Comments
Mercator has sold the company Intersport, which manages the Intersport franchise in Slovenia and the region, to the Polish fund Enterprise Investors. As Finance writes, the process is already in its final stage, and the Polish will pay over EUR 30 million to Intersport.
Mercator owns Intersport ISI, which manages the licensed sale of sports goods. It has 35 stores in Slovenia, 34 in Croatia, 12 in Serbia, 10 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, two in Montenegro, and it also has franchise stores in Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo.
Mercator is currently selling its non-core activities. Among others, Pekarna Grosuplje has been sold to the Don Don group, the tourist agency M Holidays has become the ownership of Kompas, the clothing store chain Modiana has bought Montecristo SL, a joint enterprise of Montecristo Holding, owned by Hong Kong's Emkay investments, and the entrepreneur Goran Kristan.
The Mercator Group generated EUR 1.25 billion in sales from the Croatian group Agrokor in the first six months of 2016, which is lower by 3.3% compared to last year. The drop comes as a consequence of continued market problems and activities related to the reconstruction of facilities. It can also be attributed to a lower number of facilities in Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia.
As Finance reports, Mercator is currently in the final stage of monetizing real estate. In the third quarter, they intend to sell EUR 108 million worth of real estate, which would then be leased for 20 years with a possibility of extension. These are mostly medium-sized shopping malls in Slovenia.
