The World Bank has announced an open competition for financing innovative projects in field of agriculture, within the scope of the global Fair of development ideas, which is organized every 12 or 18 months.

According to the announcement of the World Bank, 4m USD will be approved for realization of 25-30 projects with the most original ideas related to the issue of sustainable dvelopment in agriculture, and the awards will be granted on September 24 and 25 in Washington.

The theme of this-year fair is sustainable development in field of agriculture, and the participants in the open competition are expected to submit projects that will help minor farmers to appear on the market and the poor to get the land to cultivate.

The participants are invited to submit projects that deal with promotion of environment protection, clymatic changes and protection of flora and fauna.

The experts of the World Bank will choose 100 most original projects, which will be competing in the finals, at the Fair in Washington, where the participants will be defending their ideas and fighting for the donation in front of the commission.


Since 1998, when the first Fair of development ideas was organized, more than 30m USD have been granted for over 300 projects all around the world.

Among the most awarded projects are new water pump made of waste material, which was produced in Zimbabwe, and creation of electronic market of agricultural products by sending SMS messages about their prices, which was implemented in the Phillipines.
