World's biggest hotel being built in Mecca – Abraj Kudai to have 10,000 rooms and 70 restaurants

The opening of the world’s biggest hotel is scheduled for 2017 in Mecca. The hotel, which is being built two kilometers away from Masjid al-Haram, the largest mosque in the world, which is visited by over 15 billion Muslims annually, will contain 10,000 rooms and 70 restaurants.

The edifice, named Abraj Kudai, whose construction costs nearly EUR 3.13 billion, contains a total of a million square meters, 10,000 rooms, 70 restaurants, a shopping mall and a luxurious grand hall.

The construction is funded by the Saudi Ministry of Finance, and the design has been put in charge of the international consulting company Dar al-Handasah Group.

Aside from five floors reserved for the Saudi royal family, the hotel will be available to everybody.
