The regional league of former Yugoslavian countries might start in 2018, stated Slavisa Kokeza, the president of the Football Association of Serbia.

There is an idea which has been supported by the UEFA, he said and added that the idea was to have the league take place alongside the local competition, between February and May.

– The awards themselves would be considerable and would greatly increase all the clubs’ budgets – Kokeza said.

He stated that the league’s champion would get around EUR 2.5 million and that the first eight or nine teams would earn at least EUR 700,000.

The winner might also get access to the UEFA Champions League. The plan is to have four teams each from Serbia and Croatia, two from Bosnia and Herzegovina and one each from Montenegro, Macedonia and Slovenia.
