MIHAJLOVIC: 40% more permits issued than two years ago, the value of construction works larger by 70%
(Zorana Mihajlovic) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic handed over, on Sunday, July 17, computers to representatives of local self-governments and other competent authorities which are involved in the process of issuing building permits, as well as special acknowledgments to cities and municipalities which had made the best results in the area.
A total of 102 computers had been set aside for them, and Mihajlovic said on the occasion that, thanks to such projects, counters were out of use and all the permits were being issued electronically.
She cited the data that there had been 40% more building permits issued in the first four months of 2016 than in the same period in 2014. As well, the value of construction works has increased by 70% relative to two years ago, the minister pointed out.
– The land registry needs to be reformed and this is what we will be working on in the period to follow – Mihajlovic said.
She stated that the share of construction in the country's GDP had been below 4%, and that it was currently 5.5%. The goal is to reach a 7% share in order to make construction the driving force of the country's economy, Mihajlovic added.
Acknowledgments were handed out to representatives of Apatin, Ruma, Veliko Gradiste, Svilajnac, Becej, Smederevo, Valjevo, Sombor, Vrsac and Krusevac.
