European Film Festival Palic from July 16 to July 22 in Subotica

The European Film Festival Palic, one of the most important film events, transcending local borders, will be held from July 16 till July 22 at several locations near the Lake Palic and in Subotica. The event will be officially opened by laureates of the prestigious award “Aleksandar Lifka”, a veteran of Serbian cinematography Slobodan Sijan and a famous Austrian director Ulrich Seidl.

Director Radoslav Zelenovic pointed out that the Palic Festival had been honored to become one of only around thirty festivals supported by the European Union through the European Commission Fund.

– We have managed in these hard times to bring the festival to another start and we've had enough wisdom in a time of crisis to create a true European festival, the kind of festival that Europe has recognized and has been noticing for a long time – pointed out Mira Banjac, president of the Council of the Festival.

The 2016 program has been divided into 13 selections, and selector Petar Mitric reminded that the main competition program would open with the showing of Gianfranco Rosi's Fire at Sea, the documentary which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

The thread running through all the films of various genres in this year's program is the complicated and unique relationship between parents and their children.
