Danone buys American organic food giant for USD 12.5 billion

The French dairy industry giant Danone announced on Thursday, July 7, that it had bought the American producer and distributor of organic food WhiteWave Foods for USD 12.5 billion (EUR 11.3 billion).

The transaction will enable Danone to double its activities in the USA, said the French company in its announcement and added that it expected the takeover to be finalized by the end of 2016, reports AFP.
