"Europe collegium" student dorm to be built in Spring in Novi Sad
In Novi Sad's borough Telep, student dorm "Europe collegium" will be built in Spring, and it will have place for 350 students including 15 rooms for professors of Novi Sad University. The dorms will be built on construction plot that was a present of Rome-catholic biscupy of Backa.
The dorm will host students from Vojvodina who are studying at some of the faculties of the University in Novi Sad, who had their primary or middle education in Hungarian language, but also students of Serbian nationality from Hungary who are studying at some of the faculties in Novi Sad.
The project of construction of this student dorms was created as a result of agreement between our country and Hungary about protection of rights of Hungarian minority that lives in Serbia and of Serbian national minority in Hungary.
On this occassion, in the end of 2007, the president of Executive council of AP Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtic, Provincial secretary for education and culture, Zoltan Jeges, and in the name of "Europe" foundation, president Mr Bela Miavec signed a Protocole about cooperation for building the dorms.
- In the next two years, two student dorms will be built in Novi Sad: "Europe Collegium" and another one in Liman. More than 50% of accomodating capacity will be of first category. With that, they would bring up student standard and create better conditions for studying for young people, who will lead our country one day. Therefore, Executive council of Vojvodina, which has in its activities investing in education, science and young people, through the Fund for capital investing, decided to participate with 61 millions RSD for construction of students' dorms - said the President of Provincial Government, Bojan Pajtic.
