Fiat in Serbia to cancel subsidies for recycling old cars
The role of ecology in purchasing cars in Europe is increasing. Donations given by the EU states for the purchase of electric or hybrid cars are from four to 35,000 euros.
Those who want to scrap their old vehicle in a safe manner and buy a new one also get 2-5 thousand euros. The only local ecological subsidy will be cancelled at the end of the month, so anyone who wants to recycle their vehicle and buy a Fiat may do so by July 1.
A couple of hundreds of cars were sold this way, with price reductions of up to EUR 2,500. This special offer for recycling old cars has lasted for almost a year and all donations come from tax money and are given out by Fiat in order to increase the purchase of this brand in the local market.
In the neighboring Hungary, Romania, Croatia and Slovenia, sellers are using subsidies in great amounts. The Suzuki factory in Esztergom, Hungary, has presented a new semi-hybrid model of Baleno, which has EUR 4,000 of state subsidies in Croatia, Germany, Hungary and Slovenia, and two plus four thousand euros in Romania. There are places where it’s possible to get a discount on car recycling so the subsidies can reach up to 6-8 thousand euros.
