Indian tribe Lakota made decision – all liaisons with White House to be discontinued
American Indian tribe Lakota one-sidedly broke all contracts with the Government of USA, including some contracts signed 150 years ago.
Russel Minz explained the reasons why Lakota Indians rejected “the peace pipe":
- The White House was constantly breaking all promises and contracts it signed on the cheap paper. We have decided to break the contracts in accordance with the American laws and Viennese Convention from 1980. Our opinion is that we have legal and legitimate right on freedom and independence. Therefore, we do not consider ourselves the citizens of USA any more. We declare the territory we live on to be our country and we invite neighboring tribes to join us freely.
According to Minz, free land of Lakota will have its own passports and driving licenses and taxes will not be paid on its territory.
One of the organizers of the first Geneva conference on rights of the Indians in 1977, Philis Young, pointed out:
- We have signed total of 33 contracts with Washington and it keeps taking our territory, water and children from us.
Lakota Indians, which belong to the group of Sioux tribe, live on the territory of five American states: Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.
