Marko Čadež, the president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIS), and Haralabos Kunalaki, the authorized minister of economics and trade of the Greek Embassy in Belgrade, have considered the possibility of strengthening the economic ties of the two countries, as it has been announced on CCIS's website.

The economic cooperation between Serbia and Greece is not as strong as it could be, and the economic ties can be intensified in nearly all areas, beginning with tourism and trade, through food industry to machine engineering and energetics, as it was pointed out at the meeting in CCIS.

Čadež used the opportunity to point out the huge possibilities of organizing business forums and bilateral meetings between representatives of business communities of Serbia and Greece, in which there would be talk about concrete business arrangements.

The National Association of Serbian Economy will support all activities toward improving the connections between businessmen, the president of CCIS pointed out.

The total merchandise trade between Serbia and Greece in 2015 amounted to 392.53 mil USD. The import was worth 240.89 mil USD, while the export was worth 151,64 mil USD. Last year, Greece was the 22nd importing and exporting partner of the Serbian economy.

Haralabos Kunalakis said that there is great potential for improving the merchandise trade and retail between the two countries, the investments and joint investing in various sectors.

There are around 80 Greek companies directly operating in the Serbian market, with 150 operating through joint investments with local partners. Greece is one the biggest investors in Serbia, and the total worth of investments has been around 2.2 billion EUR. The largest number of investments was realized before the crisis, up till 2008, in the banking sector.
