The airplane 'airbus a330', with the mark Air Serbia, which will fly on the airline Belgrade - New York from June 23, was festively greeted on Wednesday on the Belgrade airport 'Nikola Tesla'.
This is the first 'widebody' aircraft for regular intercontinental traffic between the Balkans and the USA, Belgrade and New York, after 24 years. Flights to New York will take place five times a week, and the Serbian air-transporter will be the only company in the neighbourhood having such flight.
The tickets have been sold since February at a price beginning from 399EUR in the economy class to 2,499EUR in business class, taxes and compensations being calculated in the price.
The airplane, which arrived from Abu Dabhi, was greeted on the Belgrade airport by the traditional salute (water cannons).
On this flight was the President of the Supervisory Board of the Air Serbia company and the Mayor of Belgrade, Sinisa Mali and the General Director of the Air Serbia, Dane Kondic.
The airplane will be registered at the Directorate of the civil aircrat of Serbia, and after that it will return to Abu Dabhi where the interior of cabins will be completed.
'Airbus A330 is the biggest aircraft in the Air Serbia fleet, and it is rented from the Indian Jet Airways which is the partner to Etihad. It has a total of 254 seats - 236 seats in the economy class and 18 seats in the business class.
Air Serbia now has one 'wide-body' aircraft, 14 'narrow-body' aircrafts and six turbo-propeller aircrafts.

More than 11,000 tickets have already been sold for the flight to New York, said the President of the Supervisory Board, Sinisa Mali, whereas the General Director of the national company, Dane Kondic, pointed out that the airline would be profitable already in a two-years time.
Mali appealed to enterpreneurs to use the fact that this aircraft can transport 15 tons of cargo, estimating that the event is important not only for the Air Serbia company, but for all citizens of Serbia as well.
