Four mines that operate as part of Resavica are going to be closed soon, while minimum 1,500 workers will lose their jobs, the daily Blic reports. Simultaneously, the RSD 11 billion debt of this public company will become a burden to the citizens of Serbia.
This is a scenario that the Task Force of the Economy Ministry and the Energy and Mining Ministry, reinforced by experts from the Faculty of Mining and Geology, is going to present to the Serbian government by May 31st.
These four mines are Vrska Cuka, Bogovina, Ibarski Mine, and Senjski Mine. Blic cites its source as saying that this is the most realistic option to prevent that company from going bankrupt.
- The idea is to preserve healthy parts of the company and remove the weak ones because that's the only way for Resavica to survive.
