The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is of the opinion that Serbia would be a more competitive country if foreigners were allowed to buy agricultural land and if the city building land leasing procedure would be made easier, it is said in the OECD Competitiveness Report about Serbia's competitiveness relative to other countries of the Western Balkans.

According to the OECD's Report, which was presented Tuesday, Serbia is more favorable than other economies of the region in most of the fields, but it is pointed out that additional structural reforms were necessary in the areas of environmental protection and market competition. As assessed, Serbia's main advantages are free trade agreements with Russia and CEFTA countries.

The Competitiveness Report also indicates that all countries of the region have facilitated their procedures for export and import of goods since the start of the crisis in 2009, but they have also reduced the costs of exports and increased their visibility on the Internet. It is said that 74% of companies in Serbia have their own web page and that all of them use electronic mail.
