Miodrag Kostic's Sunoko has acquired the sugar plant Senta from Italy's Star that is 100% owned by a large Italian company called Sfir.
The news that Kostic is buying Star's shares from minor shareholders, about 15% of the outstanding stock in total, came out last week, but this latest news indicates that Kostic is taking over the entire sugar plant in Senta and not only a part of it. As the magazine Novi Magazin reports, the purchase price is agreed at between 25 and 30 million euro.
Actually, in order for this contract to be fully legalized, it is necessary to be approved by the Agency for the Protection of Competition. With this acquisition, Kostic would increase his share in the sugar market from current 50 to about 75 percent.
