LEEN project improves energy efficiency of public companies in Belgrade

Assistant Mayor of Belgrade Borko Milosavljevic unveiled today in the Old Palace a project to improve energy efficiency in seven public companies in Belgrade - LEEN, which will be implemented with the support of the Serbian government and regional representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany. Strategic partners in the project implementation are the Regional Agency for Development and European Integration Beograd, the energy innovation center Teslijanum, and Germany's Leen Gmbh which has provided 51% of the necessary funds for its application.

Snezana Radinovic, the director of the Regional Agency for Development and European Integration Beograd, expressed satisfaction with the fact that one such project was going to be implemented in the Year of Entrepreneurship in Serbia in partnership with a country that was famous for its entrepreneurial spirit. She stressed that today's event officially represented the start of implementation of that project which would cover the following public companies: Beogradska arena, SRC Tasmajdan, Sava centar, Beogradski sajam, Pionirski grad, Beogradske elektrane, and SROC Vracar. These companies are picked for being a big consumers of electrical and other energy.

Radinovic reminded that the project was admitted to the list of priority national projects of the Republic of Serbia, meaning that the European Commission, the Serbian government and the Energy Ministry recognized the high importance of its implementation.

The primary goals of the LEEN project (Learning Energy Efficiency Networks) include substantial cuts in energy consumption, reduction of operating costs of the company, alignment with European energy standards, and positive influence on the preservation of environment.​
