Skadarlija turns into Savamala?
The building of former brewery in Cetinjska Street has become a new attractive place for those who used to have their nightspots in Savamala. In that way, once popular place called Dvoristance, which was closed few months ago because of the construction of Belgrade Waterfront, could soon be moved to the Bohemian Quarters.
A global trend of opening coffee shops on the premises of old ruined factories is slowly coming to our country as well. A so-called industrial look of restaurants and bars lures those more urban fellow citizens who love to go to such places. Coffeehouses Polet and Zaokret, nestling between parking lots in Cetinjska Street, already have their regular customers. People who rented these places decided to give a brand new look to the ruined premises of the brewery and, thus, save them from destruction.
The good location of the former brewery is very attractive, so it is most likely that new Dvoristance as well as Gun Club will open here soon.
Five-star hotel construction given up
The current owner of the premises of former brewery in Skadarlija is the US company Elgin. Although it was announced that that company was going to invest EUR 180 million in that complex to open a five-star hotel, restaurants and multistorey garages in that location, unrvišespratne garaže, unresolved legal and property relations ruined all these plans.
