Lidl plans to build 20 retail stores and distribution center in Serbia by end-2017
Representatives of the Lidl company announced today, at a meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, that they were going to build additional 20 retail stores in Serbia in 2016 and 2017.
On that occasion, Vucic expressed gratitude to company representatives for their trust, that is, the wish to build Lidl facilities in Serbia and hire domestic supplier for their stores, the Government Press Office announced.
Lidl officials pointed out that the first store of that retailer had already been built in Smederevo, adding that another 20 facilities would be constructed over the next two years.
As announced, Lidl's distribution center in Nova Pazova too will be finished by May 2017.
After that, all retail stores of this company in Serbia, employing about 1,000 people, will be opened at the same time.
- Lidl's long-term plan is to open 100 retail facilities in Serbia - said Lidl Serbia General Manager Dragan Cigoja.
