Cement factory "Holcim Srbija" formed company "Ekorek" for recycling works -official opening on January 1, 2008

- Cement factory "Holcim Srbija" in Novi Popovac near Paraćin has formed company "Ekorek", which will deal with collecting old tires, paper and other solid waste that cement factory uses as alternative fuel - said general manager of the cement factory, Gustavo Navaro.

Pointing out that Popovac-based cement factory burns up to 6,000 tons of waste tires on annual basis, Navaro said that company "Ekorek", which now employs five workers and will hire another 10 workers next year, would be officially put into operation on January 1st.

According to his words, "Ekorek" will place containers for old tires, paper and other solid waste material in the vicinity of tire repairing shops, wood-processing and other companies all around Serbia.

- In that way, in addition to saving 10% of classical fuels, cement factory will also contribute to elimination of solid waste from the larger part of the territory of Serbia and to more efficient environment protection - said Navaro.
